Assistant Baker

Job description

• We are looking to hire a part-time baker to support cafe needs & head baker with production. At Julie's we create all of our baked goods in house, including biscuits, scones, muffins, quick breads, cookies, and more - with a special focus on creating vegan, gluten free, and plant based products for those with dietary restrictions.

Example of job duties

• Opening kitchen and doing morning bake of all pastries for cafe
• Assesses daily needs for production
• Follows recipes, directions, and requests of kitchen manager and head baker
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks
• Communicate daily flavors, pars, etc with FOH & others as needed
• Responsible for following standardized recipes, portioning of cookies, decoration garnish, and maintaining pastry par stock

Job Requirements

• Able to work weekends & at least one of, if not both of the following days: Wednesdays & Thursdays
• ability to regularly lift 50 lbs
• Enjoy working in a fast paced environment
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Available for shifts as early as 6 am

• is detail oriented: baking requires attention to detail, from getting the proper measurements, to portioning consistently, to decorating & putting finishing touches on products
• good work ethic: you can work without supervision, can be relied on to complete tasks in a timely manner, and keep your space clean and organized
• a good communicator: you know how to speak up when something requires attention, know when to ask for help, communicate clearly and effectively with your teammates, and follow standards around taking time off & calling out of work

Compensation

• this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $17.46 - $20.00
