Portland Pet Food Company is now accepting applications for a Mid-Shift Baker at our SE wholesale production facility in Portland, Oregon.

Our team works closely with our fulfillment and shipping departments to ensure we are baking and packaging a high-quality product that will be loved by dogs everywhere. We need dedicated baking associates who are extremely reliable and precise. We are a team-oriented business and are growing rapidly.

Job Description: This position supports the entire PPFC Operations Department by primarily baking high-quality treats for dogs. To ensure overall success, the bakery will occasionally assist fulfillment and packaging staff. Training will be provided for all tasks assigned and equipment used.

• Rate of Pay: Starting at $19.00 hourly

• Schedule: 40 hours weekly – Monday to Friday: 11:00 am – 7:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities

• Mix, form, bake, and package dog treats.
• Follow health and safety standards and adhere to SOP processes to maintain clean facilities.
• Verify the accuracy of projects and completion of paperwork.
• Frequently participate in packaging tasks including bagging, casing, inventory tracking, accurate labeling, and operation of large manufacturing equipment.
• Occasionally participate in warehouse tasks including casing, order fulfillment, pallet building, receiving, inventory tracking, accurate labeling, and operation of basic warehouse equipment.

Experience and Attributes

• Education and Training

• o Multnomah County Food Handler’s certificate required within 30 days of hire

• Professional Experience

• o 1+ years working in a bakery preferred.

o Food manufacturing experience a plus.

• o Understanding of food manufacturing, food safety, lot coding, and FIFO inventory

• Personal Experience and Work Ethic

• o Flexible in daily tasks and adaptable to growth and change
• o Reliable attendance
• o Desire to maximize workflow, achieve goals, and follow standards
• o Attention to detail that prevents errors

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk continuously during an 8-hour shift
• Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds
• Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and lifting
