Hi Neighbor Group (7 Adams, the Vault Steakhouse, the Vault Garden, Trestle, MAMA Oakland) is looking for hard working professionals who are team oriented, have a passion for hospitality and want to grow their career. We have a position for Wine Buyer/Floor Manager open in two different locations. This is a salaried position, reporting directly to General Manager of the restaurant and works closely with the Corporate Management Team and Bar Team. The position averages 50 hours a week, with two days off in a row. Medical/dental benefits for full time team members as well as a paid vacation plan.
Floor Manager aspect of the role will include responsibilities such as:
- Overseeing and directing the daily restaurant operations, staffing (including but not limited to hiring and training)
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Manage inventory and order supplies for the restaurant and needs of the dining room and staff
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer experience, being an advocate and leader of hospitality
- Monitor customer satisfaction and respond to inquiries or complaints
- Collaborate with the kitchen team on menu planning and food preparation
- Coordinate catering events and private functions
- Harmonizing the team around Hi Neighbor's mission and values and desire to provide a highly efficient and effective service.
The Wine Buyer aspect of the Manager role will include responsibilities such as:
- Purchasing & Inventory: Procuring wine, beer and spirits (working with Bar Team for those orders), tracking stock levels, managing relationships with suppliers, and managing cellar inventory
- List Curation & Pricing: Developing and updating wine lists to match the cuisine, pricing for profitability, and ensuring product variety
- Service & Sales: Assisting guests with wine selections, providing exceptional service, and driving sales
- Staff Education: Training service staff on wine knowledge, pairing recommendations, and proper service techniques
Requirements for this job are prior management experience and the full knowledge and capability of participating in all aspects of the front-of-house (host, server, food runner, bartender). A strong food and beverage knowledge, especially wine, and must have experience building a wine list, buying wine and working closely with vendors on pricing. Must be able to frequently go up and down stairs throughout the day, carry trays and boxes and lift up to 50lbs.
