The Shift Leader plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the bakery café. During their shift, the Shift Leader helps guide the team, ensures that service runs smoothly, and maintains a strong focus on customer experience and product quality. While on the floor, the Shift Leader acts as the leader on duty, helping coordinate staff, monitoring workflow, and making sure company standards and procedures are followed. This position works closely with management and communicates feedback about daily operations, team performance, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high standards in food quality, beverage preparation, customer service, and overall café presentation.

Stay informed about menu items and be able to explain pastries, drinks, and products to customers and team members.

Support management instructions and help the team anticipate operational needs throughout the shift.

Assist with inventory and ordering when needed, including milk, pastries, ingredients, and other supplies.

Review daily schedules and provide feedback to management to improve efficiency and staffing.

Oversee proper cash handling procedures including registers, daily cash counts, and deposits.

Ensure staff follows company policies including food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and operational procedures.

Provide constructive and positive feedback to team members while promoting a respectful and supportive work environment.

Communicate operational issues, team concerns, and customer feedback to management.

Maintain smooth shift operations by delegating tasks such as stocking, cleaning, and preparation.

Ensure the team remains focused on providing excellent service and maintaining product quality.

Follow and enforce all health, safety, and food handling regulations.

Lead by example by maintaining a positive attitude and solution-focused mindset.

Participate in inventory counts when assigned.

Respond professionally and courteously to both customer and staff questions or concerns.

Qualifications & Skills

Full-time position (approximately 35-40 hours per week) with availability on weekends and holidays.

Ability to stay calm and professional in a busy environment while managing both customers and staff.

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make thoughtful decisions during service.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.
