Hi Neighbor Group is hiring for the Vault. We are looking for hard working, kitchen professionals who are team oriented, have a passion for food and want to grow their career. With us, you have the opportunity to work side by side with our Chef/Partner Jason Halverson and Executive Chef Ryan Cerizo. We operate the Vault in two concepts, the Vault Garden and the Vault Steakhouse. First, the Vault Garden- an expansive outdoor restaurant on the plaza of the historic 555 California building – a dining oasis in downtown San Francisco with lunch and dinner 5 days a week and private events scheduled throughout the week. The second concept is our newly launched Vault Steakhouse which operates at the same location but indoors on the Concourse level, 6 nights a week, dinner only - a beautiful, sleek, dressed up dining room with an extensive wine list and cocktail program, serving classic steakhouse favorites with a few modern twists.
In this role, you will lead the prep cook team and spearhead the extensive prep of not only the mis en place for our regular menus, but our Launch Pad Coffee Shop food production as well as the extensive banquet food items that prepped daily. Here are a list of responsibilities and qualifications:
Responsibilities
- Execute daily prep lists accurately and efficiently, following Vault standards and recipes
- Prepare vegetables, proteins, stocks, sauces, and mise en place following established recipes and quantities.
- Maintain proper food handling, labeling, storage, and sanitation practices at all times, including following safe thawing and cooling protocols.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries, organizing invoices for Chef
- Assist in monitoring and controlling inventory levels, notifying the Chefs of any shortages, discrepancies or spoilage
- Operates and cleans equipment and tools after each use.
- Maintain a well-organized and clean prep and storage area
- Communicate clearly with chefs and teammates to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Ensure the consistency and quality of all prepared items in terms of taste, appearance and portion size.
Qualifications
- Prep experience preferred, including butchering meat and breaking down seafoods
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to work efficiently, stay organized, and follow direction
- Interest in seasonal cooking, quality ingredients, and professional kitchen standards
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid California Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain), as well as a Certified Sexual Harassment Training
- Must be able to understand and speak English, even if minimal
- Ability to work closely with the rest of the kitchen team, including chefs and line cooks, and maintain a cohesive and efficient working environment.
This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, EARLY AM IS A MUST. Must have or be able to obtain food handler card, and sexual harassment certification.
