Server

Purpose

Service of food and beverage to include the order-taking and delivery of any food and beverage items. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional manner, resulting in high guest satisfaction. You will greet and engage guests in pleasant conversation with them to cultivate a hospitable, welcoming environment. The server may keep any additional tips. Our team is fun and hardworking. We look out for one another and expect nothing less from each other. We currently have part-time and full-time positions available.

Essential Functions

• Check the station before, during, and after shifts for proper set-up and cleanliness.

Greet guests promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner. Address the guest by name whenever possible. Explain specials and restaurant promotions to create guest awareness.

• Record food and beverage orders from the guest accurately, repeating information back to the guest and using a guest check/ticket.
• Present legible and accurate guest checks/tickets to the kitchen and provide additional information regarding the order as necessary.

Check completed orders for accuracy before serving. Deliver food promptly, serve hot food hot and cold food cold. Include appropriate condiments. Lift trays weighing up to 30 pounds. Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations about serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

• Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
• Market and serve upon request any dessert items or specialty coffees.
• Bus and reset tables.

Other

• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime to reflect the business needs of LASR. Employees may also be required to attend group and department meetings in addition to the work shift as necessary.

Supportive Functions

• In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time achieving each part to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
• Supplement the bus to help in clearing and resetting tables.
• Perform all assigned side work, including replenishing condiments, restocking side stands, and folding napkins.
• Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including cross-training.
• Report any suspicious persons or activity immediately to a supervisor.
• Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. And be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, silverware, and menu items.
• The ability to read, write, and speak English is sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
• Ability to continuously transport trays weighing up to 50 pounds through a crowded room throughout the shift.
