Sushi Helper

Seeking sushi helper who are comfortable making Maki and food prep. This position will work at the sushi counter, working during service, preparing food orders and maintaining quality and high cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Execute menu items to specifications (prepare all types of sushi including butchering fish, nigiri, sashimi, handrolls and small plates)
• Manage inventory levels for a wide range of raw fish and other ingredients
• Meticulous to detail in the food preparation and presentation
• Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with others and work toward the goal of guest satisfaction
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
• Maintain organization and exemplary cleanliness
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience as sushi helper or sushi chef
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be fully conversational in English
• Must be able to work legally in the US
• Able to lift 30lb or more

• Exceptional knife skills

• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

• Outstanding communication skills

• Ability to interact comfortably with guests and create positive memorable experience for guests
• Supporting other cooks and working in a team environment
• Up to date with Illinois Food Handler certification
